Press Release Body = STAVERN, Norway, June 12 The Kitsch Annuale is the international exhibition for figurative painting in Norway held in the Fredriksvern Shipyard located in Stavern, Norway June 24th through July 9th. The exhibition is organized by WorldWideKitsch.com and KitschForum.com.
Opening: June 24th at 14:00 CEST Kitsch embraces talent, where art sees it as its enemy. Kitsch represents handcraft, drama, pathos and sincerity without irony.
The Kitsch Annuale shall be a free room for figurative painters who expose their emotional lives. We want to bring story telling back into painting.
The Kitsch Annuale 2006 includes painters from Iran, America, Italy, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland:
Odd Nerdrum, Markus Andersson, Jonny Andvik, Stefan Boulter, Ibolya Csanadi, Gianluca Franzese, Fereidoun Ghaffari, Monika Helgesen, Sampo Kaikkonen, Boris Koller, Osiris Rain, Riccardo Rossati, David Dalla Venezia, Robert Dale Williams, Shane Young and Tom Overland.
The jury consists of kitsch painters Helene Knoop and Jan-Ove Tuv, as well as Columbia University Ph.D. Candidate Therese Sjovoll. The jury has emphasized level of handcraft skill, the ability to render skin and narrative content.
